The Best Time of Day to Email Your Subscribers

Want more people opening your emails? Clicking your links? Buying your stuff?

It’s not just what you write, it’s when you send it.

If you send your email at the wrong time, even the best message can get buried. But hit the right time? And boom, your email’s the first thing they see. The one they actually open.

There’s one golden hour that changes everything, and we’re about to crack it wide open.

Let’s dive into the real secret that makes your emails get seen, read, and loved

Blink and You’ll Miss It, You’ve Got 60 Minutes

Here’s something shocking: people spend just 10 to 13 seconds reading your email. That’s right. Less time than it takes to make a cup of tea.

And the biggest thing? Most emails are opened within one hour of landing in someone’s inbox. If you miss that sweet spot, your message gets buried under a mountain of other emails. 📬

So if you send it at the wrong time, you might as well not send it at all. That’s how fast you can lose your reader’s attention.

What the Research Says (And Why It Might Be Wrong)

Let’s talk about what “the experts” say.

On weekdays, emails between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. get lots of attention.

On weekends? 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. seems to do the trick.

Sounds useful, right? But hold on. That might just be because of the big data, and not your unique audience. What works in general might not work best for you.

So, how do you find your perfect time?

I Tested It. And I Found Gold.

I’m a morning person. Like, 5 a.m. wake-up-with-a-cat-in-your-face kind of morning person. That’s when I make my tea, open my laptop, and write my daily email. Right there at the kitchen counter.

And guess what time I started sending those emails?

7 a.m.

That’s when the magic started to happen.

The Power of 7 AM Emails

Why 7 a.m.? Oh, let me count the ways…

  1. No Distractions: People aren’t at work yet. Their day hasn’t exploded with tasks, meetings, and stress.
  2. Routine is Powerful: Sending emails at the same time every day builds a habit for you and for your readers.
  3. Better Open Rates: When I tested different times, my open rates dropped by 6% on average when I changed the time. But when I kept it steady at 7 a.m.? Boom. Engagement went up.
  4. They Start the Day With You: Imagine being the first thing in someone’s inbox. You’re not just another message, you’re the first voice they hear that day.

That’s powerful stuff.

Build the Habit. Build the Results.

Sending at 7 a.m. didn’t just help my audience.

It helped me stay consistent, too.

It’s called habit stacking. I linked sending my email to something I was already doing, making tea. So every morning, the kettle boils, and my fingers start typing.

No stress. No forgetting. Just flow.

You can do this too. Find something you already do each day, maybe brushing your teeth, walking the dog, or even your first cup of coffee, and link it to your email writing or sending.

But Wait, 7 AM WHERE?

Now for the twist: 7 a.m., where?

Your readers could be all over the world. So what then?

If you’ve got the tech, send your email to hit 7 a.m. local time for each person. That way, everyone gets it at their ideal moment, no matter the time zone.

If you don’t have that kind of setup, don’t worry. Just pick the time that works for your main audience’s location and stick with it. Even a rough guess is better than no strategy at all.

The Instant Win: Reactive Emails

Here’s a ninja move: reactive emails.

What’s that? It’s when you send someone an email right after they take action. Like joining your list. Because if they just signed up, guess what?

They’re online.

They’re checking their inbox.

They’re ready for your message. That first email should hit immediately. Don’t wait. Make your first impression fast, friendly, and full of value. It starts your relationship off strong and can even make sales on the spot.

So, What’s the Best Time to Email?

Let’s wrap it up with the big takeaway.

The best time to send emails is 7 a.m. local time, whenever possible.

Not just because it’s early.

Not just because research kinda says so.

But because:

  • People aren’t yet distracted
  • You create a predictable habit
  • You become part of their morning routine
  • YOU stay consistent, too

That one shift can totally transform your open rates, click-throughs, and sales.

Final Thoughts: Make Mornings Work for You

The truth is, email marketing doesn’t have to be a guessing game.

You don’t need endless split tests or complex strategies to see better results. Sometimes, a single smart change, like sending your emails at 7 a.m., can transform how people interact with your content.

When your message shows up just as your reader is starting their day, you’re not just another email. You’re the email they open, the voice that gets heard, and the connection they look forward to.

So take what you’ve learned, set your next email to hit that 7 a.m. mark, and keep showing up with value. That’s how trust is built. That’s how habits are formed. And that’s how you win the inbox, one morning at a time.

Now go hit send. The perfect time is waiting.
